Anncath-Roby Crafts

We began Anncath-Roby Crafts in 1998 as a hobby, and in 2003, after we moved to Clairville, it became a full-time small business. All products are hand crafted by us in our studio in Clairville, Kent County, New Brunswick.

In 2004, our first market we every did was the Bouctouche Farmers Market. Thank you to all who have supported us, gave us ideas, and encouragement. We now offer our products to cruise ship passengers visiting the port of Saint John. Our thanks to Jonathan & Maureen Williams for offering our products at the Bouctouche Farmers Market.

A lot of people have asked us how we got started in our business. As we mentioned earlier, we actually started our stain glass business as a hobby, not so much to do stain glass, but to do stepping stones with stain glass embedded in the cement. Both of us registered for a six week course, and once we began, the stepping stone idea soon was overshadowed by our interest in stain glass. Cathy was more interested in doing smaller pieces, whereas Byron was more interested in doing stain glass windows of his own design (none of which you'll see at the market, by the way).

As part of a long time passion, Cathy also wrote her first motivational book in her spare time, edited by Byron. Rather than lose control of our book, we self-published it. Cathy's first motivational book, "Wings of Wisdom" , published in hard cover, is comprised of quotes where every third quote is embellished with a story. She also maintains a website, Inspirational Words of Wisdom, (www.wow4u.com) which was started as a result of that book back in 1998.
