Salt
- cake icing will not sugar if you add a pinch of salt
- To bake potatoes in the oven, boil potatoes in salt water for ten minutes before baking, they will bake faster
- cream will whip more readily if a pinch of salt is added
- if tea is spilt on placemats or tablecloth, cover the stain at once with salt, leave for awhile and then wash. Tea stain usually comes out.
Club Soda
- before shucking oysters soak them in club soda, they will be easier to open
- flat club soda, don't throw it out, water your plants once a week, the minerals in the soda will help them grow
Milk
- maker fish that has been frozen taste fresh by defrosting the frozen fish in a bowl of milk
- make your corn on the cob taste sweeter by adding 1/4 cup of powdered milk to the boiling water
Candles
- to remove wax from a candle holder, put in fridge for about 10 minutes, this causes the wax to shrink and the wax will come out easier.
- candles burn more slowly and evenly if placed in the freezer several hours before using.
- if candle wax has dripped on your wood furniture, remove the wax by softening the wax using a blow dryer set on high. Using paper towel wipe up the wax. If there is still wax remaining rub with a cloth that has been soaked in equal parts of white vinegar and water.
- use a candle to prevent ink from smearing on letters or on your garden sticks. Rub the candle over the area and the ink will not run

Baking Soda
- for fluffy omelets add a half a teaspoon of baking soda for every three eggs
- put a box of baking soda in your fridge to keep your fridge smelling fresh. Replace the book every 3 months.
- rather than throwing the old baking soda out, with warm water running, pour 1/2 cup of baking soda in the drain. This will help keep your drains odors free
Sugar
- keep your fresh cut flowers longer by adding 3 tbs of sugar and 2 tbs of white vinegar to the water
- eating hot foods and burned your tongue? sprinkle a bit of sugar on your tongue and you will feel immedaite relief
Lemons
- Saving Old Pennies? Clean them by putting the penny is a cup of lemon juice with a dash of salt, let stand overnight.
- Mix 4 tablespoons of lemon juice to 1 gallon of water. This solution will clean windows that are lightly soiled.
- fireplace odor? burn a couple of lemon peels to get rid of the odor.
