Baked Beans
2 cups beans
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup butter
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 onion, chopped
Method:
Soak beans in cold water, drain and add cold water.
Add remainder of ingredients and parboil on top of stove until beans are tender but not mushy.
Bake 300F, for 4-6 hours, adding water if necessary.

Beef and Garlic Stir Fry
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 lb boneless beef sirloin, cut in strips
1 onion, sliced thinly
2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1/4 tsp garlic powder)
1 can (10 oz) consommé
1-2 tbsp soya sauce
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 cups frozen Oriental vegetable mixture
4 cups hot cooked rice
Method:
In skillet, heat oil at medium-high.
Add beef and stir fry until browned. Drain fat
Reduce heat to med. Add onion and garlic, stir fry 3 min. Drain fat.
Stir in consommé, soya sauce and cornstarch. Heat to a boil and stir often. Reduce heat to med.-low.
Add vegetables and simmer until beef and vegetables are cooked through - about 5 min, stirring occasionally. Serve over rice.
